While most produce does better in the refrigerator, tomatoes do better on the counter. Refrigerating whole tomatoes will cause them to lose flavor and become dry.
Unripe tomatoes should be kept in a sunny windowsill. If they are overripe, it's best to cook them before storing them in the refrigerator.
10. Hot Sauce
Storing hot sauce in the refrigerator will cause the peppers to lose their heat. You don't need to refrigerate your hot sauce to preserve it;
the vinegar will prevent bacteria from growing in it.
