In 2010, monsoon rains and landslides caused the road to be closed but it was reopened three months later. The road is still considered dangerous for 85% of its length; people travelling slowly on this road can be hit by falling rocks.

The Elliott Highway in Alaska runs through a sparsely populated region with frigid weather. It ends in Deadhorse. It is typically used by large trucks.
18. Guoliang Tunnel – China
In this case, 13 villagers used hammers and chisels to carve a roadway along the side of the mountain. The bridge is four metres wide and five metres high. Today it is visited by both tourists and hikers.
