Top 10 first generation fighter jets

7/10 de Havilland Sea Vixen

The Sea Vixen broke the sound barrier in level flight, reaching a top speed of 690 mph (Mach 0.91). Its strafe wings and near supersonic performance put it close to the second generation. The twin-boom design of the Venom and Vampire was inherited by the Vixen, which used a 45 degree strafe wings. Between the fuselage and the boom were two Rolls-Royce Avon 208 turbojets that exceeded all expectations. Fast and sleek, the Vixen served with the Royal Navy until 1972.
